Dan Ghinea este absolvent al Facultăţii de Geologie-Geografie (secţia Geografie, secundar Biologie) a Universităţii Bucureşti, de la care, în urma examenelor de licenţă, a primit Diploma cu înscrisul “Diplomat Universitar” în specialitatea Geografie-Biologie, 1966. A contribuit, ca redactor şi autor al unor articole de geografie, la ediţiile întâi (1972), a doua (1978) şi a treia (1986) ale Micului Dicţionar Enciclopedic şi apoi la Dicţionar Enciclopedic, apărut în 7 volume între 1993 şi 2009. Autor al mai multor lucrări: RUMÄNIEN. Dan Ghinea is a graduate of the University of Bucharest, of the Faculty of Geology-Geography (with a Major in Geography section and a Minor in Biology), from which he obtained, in 1966, a Diploma in Geography-Biology.
